Solarflare Announces Deployment of Application-Intelligent
10GbE Networking Solutions at ISE
Solarflare lowers latency and maximizes performance of exchanges worldwide,
provides competitive advantage in financial services market
where microseconds matter
IRVINE, CA—June 26, 2012—Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) networking software and hardware, today announced the International Securities Exchange (ISE) has implemented Solarflare's ultra-low latency 10GbE mezzanine adapters for HP BladeSystem ProLiant Server Blades. The introduction of Solarflare's solutions reduced round-trip network latency by up to 40 microseconds, or approximately 57 percent, for ISE customers utilizing their Premium Access service.
As a leader in electronic options trading, ISE's low-latency infrastructure technology is critical to its trading environment. Earlier this year, ISE completed the deployment of Solarflare adapters to deliver the industry's lowest latency and highest message rates. In addition, Solarflare helps offload critical compute-intensive tasks to ensure minimum burden is placed on the server central processing unit (CPU), thereby freeing up processor cycles for customer applications.
"We are constantly evaluating technologies to maximize infrastructure performance for users of our premium connectivity services," said Robert Cornish, technology strategy and infrastructure officer at ISE. "Solarflare's 10GbE networking hardware is an innovative solution that has already demonstrated strong performance results."
Solarflare also helped tune ISE's environment to ensure optimal bi-directional line-rate throughout for critical applications. Following several months of successful results with Solarflare's server adapters, ISE deployed OpenOnload®, a unique application acceleration middleware that provides direct sockets connection to applications for enhanced performance.
"ISE's latest deployment further solidifies Solarflare's dominant position as the number one technology provider for the top exchanges worldwide," said Russell Stern, CEO at Solarflare. "Our application-aware server I/O solutions are uniquely positioned to address the scale-out performance and low latency requirements of electronic trading environments."
Solarflare develops network interface software and hardware to transform the way applications use networks, providing industry-leading application acceleration for the most demanding scale-out compute environments. Solarflare's products are available from leading distributors and value-added resellers, as well as Dell, IBM and HP. Solarflare is headquartered in Irvine, California and operates an R&D facility in Cambridge, UK.
