Russell Stern

Chairman of the Board, Solarflare Communications

Russell Stern has served as President and CEO at Solarflare Communications since 2004. He was formerly President and CEO at JNI Corporation in San Diego, California. Prior to JNI, Mr. Stern served as General Manager and COO at Quantum Corporation. For more than 13 years, he held a number of increasingly responsible positions in the disc drive industry including five years at Western Digital Corporation in Irvine, CA, where he held the positions of Sr. VP, R&D, VP, Worldwide Operations and as Co-Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Stern has also held executive engineering and marketing positions with Seagate Technology and Adaptec. He began his career at IBM, where he held various engineering and management positions in the development and manufacturing of the IBM PC / XT / AT and PS/2. He obtained his Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Mr. Stern is also a Foundation Board member of the Orange County High School of the Arts, a chartered public school in Santa Ana, CA.

Managing Partner, Oak Investment Partners

Bandel L.Carano, Managing Partner, joined Oak Investment Partners in 1985 and became a General Partner in 1987. Bandel has invested in companies with emphasis on Wireless and Rich-Media communications (2Wire, Airspan, Avici, CommVerge, CoreTek, Endwave, FiberTower, General Bandwidth, Kratos Defense and Security Solutions, MobiTV, NeoPhotonics, Netopia, PictureTel, Plastic Logic, Polycom, Presidio, PulsePoint, Qtera, Sentient Networks, SmartDrive Systems, Tegic, Trapeze, and Wellfleet); Advanced Software Systems (Entropic, firstRain, Illustra/Informix, Sybase, Tele Atlas and Visto); Advanced Semiconductors (Actel, Airgo, CommQuest, Kenet, Level 5, NemeriX, Newport Media, nLight, Qpixel, Resonext, SMIC, Solarflare, Stretch, Synaptics and Virata); Design Automation (Centric Software, Interconnectix, Parametric, Synopsys and Tensilica) and Clean Energy Technologies (Aurora BioFuels, Boston-Power, eSolar, GreenVolts, NanoH2O, PML, ReliOn, and Sundrop Fuels). Prior to Oak, Bandel joined Morgan Stanley's Venture Capital Group in 1983. He was responsible for advising Morgan Stanley on high-tech new business development, as well as sponsoring venture investments. Bandel received BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He currently serves on the Investment Advisory Board of the Stanford Engineering Venture Fund.

Charles Cotton

Director, Library House

Charles Cotton was Chairman of the Board at Level 5 Networks. He is a director of Library House and a business angel. Cotton previously served as Chairman ofGlobespanVirata, Inc. (NASDAQ: GSPN), headquartered in Red Bank, New Jersey, which resulted from the December 2001 merger between Virata Corp. and GlobeSpan Inc., forming the world’s largest DSL chipset and software company. Prior to the merger, Mr. Cotton was CEO of Virata Corp. While at Virata, he re-directed the business from its networking equipment origins and led the transition of the original Cambridge, UK company, to a Delaware corporation, prior to taking the company public on the NASDAQ market in November 1999. Mr. Cotton was previously CEO of London-based Shandwick Europe and, prior to that he was president of Thermal Scientific Inc, based in Boston Mass., and director of Thermal Scientific Ltd, the London Stock Exchange listed specialist engineering firm. He served as sales and marketing director at Sinclair Research Ltd, and, before that, he held senior operations, finance, marketing and product planning positions in the motor industry for British Leyland Motor Corporation and Ford. Charles holds a BA Honors in Physics from Oxford University.
