Solarflare Communications actively participates in organizations that develop industry communication standards including:
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

The
IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee develops Local Area Network standards and Metropolitan
Area Network standards. The most widely used standards are for the Ethernet family,
Token Ring, Wireless LAN, Bridging and Virtual Bridged LANs. An individual Working
Group provides the focus for each area. Working Group IEEE 802.3 is responsible
for Ethernet based LANs.

The
mission of the Ethernet Alliance is to promote industry awareness, acceptance, and
advancement of technology and products based on both existing and emerging IEEE
802 Ethernet standards and their management. The Ethernet Alliance will provide
resources to establish and demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability of IEEE 802
Ethernet products and their management.
The
University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) tests networking
and data communications products. Since 1988, the laboratory has fostered multi-vendor
interoperability while preparing UNH students for careers in the industry. The laboratory
has grown steadily into one of the industry's premier independent proving grounds
for new technologies.
Solarflare is particularly active in the UNH-IOL 10 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium. It is an industry-supported organization that works in conjunction with its member companies to provide a neutral test environment and industry accepted test methodologies for the purpose of promoting and fostering conformance and interoperability of 10 Gigabit Ethernet devices.
Fabless Semiconductor Association
www.fsa.org
FSA is the
voice of the global fabless business model. Industry leaders incorporated FSA in
1994 on the premise that the fabless business model would be a viable, long-term
business model. Today, the viability of outsourcing as a sustainable business model
for the industry has been proven, and FSA is focused on the perpetuation of this
business model throughout the worldwide semiconductor industry.
TIA
is the leading trade association for the information and communications technology
(ICT) industry. As owner and producer of GLOBALCOMM™, TIA serves ICT suppliers
to global markets through its leadership in standards development, domestic and
international policy advocacy, and facilitating member business opportunities. TIA
represents the communications sector of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA).
The TR-42.7 Subcommittee develops and maintains telecommunications copper cabling component and system requirements for premises networks. This includes performance specifications, qualification procedures, and test methods for connecting hardware (including modular patch cords) and cable.
Distributed Management Task Force, Inc.
www.dmtf.org
With
more than 3,500 active participants representing 39 countries and nearly 200 organizations,
the Distributed Management Task Force, Inc. (DMTF) is the industry organization
leading the development of management standards and the promotion of interoperability
for enterprise and Internet environments. DMTF standards provide common management
infrastructure components for instrumentation, control and communication in a platform-independent
and technology neutral way. DMTF standards include the Common Information Model
(CIM), communication/control protocols like Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM)
and Web Services for Management (WS-Management), and the Systems Management Architecture
for Server Hardware (SMASH) initiative.
Peripheral
Component Interconnect (PCI-SIG) is the industry organization that is chartered
with maintenance of the PCI bus specification. The PCI-SIG effectively places ownership
and management of the PCI specifications in the hands of the developer community.
The PCI-SIG works to support new requirements to the specification while maintaining
backward compatibility for all PCI revisions and addenda. The PCI-SIG works on behalf
of the entire industry, not specific vendor interests.
