Solarflare Partners with Leading Manufacturer Accton to Deliver Standards-Based 10 Gigabit Ethernet to Enterprises and Data Centers

Relationship with top original design manufacturer drives distribution and validates demand for next-generation Ethernet

Irvine, CA – October 30, 2007 – Solarflare Communications, the leader in standards-based 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) silicon and reference designs, today announced its collaboration with Accton Technology Corporation, an industry-leading original design manufacturer and global provider of networking and communications products. Through this partnership, high-performance solutions based on Solarflare® 10GbE and 10GBASE-T technology will be manufactured by Accton for global network original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and installation over existing infrastructures of unshielded twisted pair (UTP) copper cabling.

“Ready for mass deployment, standards-based 10GbE technology is the best way to cost-effectively remove network bandwidth and storage constraints, addressing ever-increasing demands for advanced applications at the core,” said Bruce Tolley, VP of marketing at Solarflare. “Working with world-class partners such as Accton enables us to effectively meet the growing need among OEMs to provide robust 10GbE products that will drive the proliferation of next-generation applications such as virtualization, Web 2.0 and streaming rich-media on demand.”

Solarflare is the first company to bring standards-based 10GbE silicon and reference designs to market. Accton is initially building high-performance 10 Gigabit server network interface cards (NICs) based on Solarflare technology. These products will ship from leading networking equipment vendors starting in Q4, 2007.

“We have been developing advanced networking products for almost two decades and understand that now is the time for 10GbE to become a mainstay in enterprise networks and data centers around the world,” said Kevin Jean, director of product marketing at Accton. “Solarflare’s innovative technology coupled with our networking-device expertise creates robust, high-performance solutions for customers seeking a cost-effective, simple upgrade to 10 Gigabit performance.”

About Solarflare 10 Gigabit Products
Solarflare is the first to deliver both 10 Gigabit Ethernet controller and 10GBASE-T PHY technology. The Solarstorm™ Ethernet controller delivers the optimal balance of performance, power and price. Solarflare’s 10Xpress® 10GBASE-T PHY supports distances of greater than 100 meters on UTP Category 6A cabling, 100 meters on STP Category 6, 55 meters on UTP Category 6, and 45 meters on UTP Category 5E cabling. The combination of Solarstorm 10GbE controller and 10Xpress 10GBASE-T PHY enables NIC and server OEM customers to bring 10G server adapters to market at about the same cost as quad 1G server adapters—driving the widespread implementation of 10GbE in data centers and enterprise networks.
